Day 2

Restoration and Community Outreach

The day begins as you leave Arusha and move into the rural landscapes of Tengeru. Rather than driving directly to tree planting, we begin on foot.

Accompanied by a local guide, you will follow the winding paths that connect homes, small-holder farms, and shared community spaces. This walk allows you to see the daily rhythm of the village and understand the lives that depend on the mountain’s resources.

Your journey leads to a vital water catchment area on the slopes of Mount Meru. These natural springs providing water to thousands of people and local livestock.

You will take part in a reforestation session, planting indigenous trees specifically selected to stabilize the soil and protect the watershed in an area.

Every tree planted is recorded, contributing to a measurable long-term effort to ensure water security.

Following your work in the field, we return to the heart of the city for lunch at a locally owned and staffed restaurant. By dining here, you contribute directly to the local economy and the livelihoods of the professional team who call this city home.

The Afternoon Exchange: Ethical School Visit

To ensure the students’ academic concentration is prioritized, we visit the local school during their most active and community-focused hour as lessons conclude.

This is a time for hands-on connection, you may find yourself helping to water the school’s vegetable garden, assisting in cleaning the classrooms or joining games and sports on a playground.

The Final Parade

You’ll have opportunity to join the day final parade to hear the final announcements of the day and share a moment of mutual respect before the children head home.

As the day draws to a close, you return to your accommodation with the satisfaction of learning and discovery, having contributed to both the habitat and the local community of Arusha.

You’ll also visit a local tree nursery to see how the forest is being protected and restored, and we will plant some trees.

Day 5

Breaking Bread and Shared Stories in Mto wa Mbu

After a relaxed breakfast, we depart the wild for the vibrant town of Mto wa Mbu. This day is dedicated to the 'Community' pillar of our mission, where the heritage of Tanzania is shared through the simple act of breaking bread.

Along the way, we will make brief, meaningful stops at roadside markets where vendors sell sisal crafts, fresh fish and farm produce like maize and beans. By purchasing these goods, we directly support the local traders and the local economy. We will then give these purposeful gifts to the elders home, creating a beautiful circle of support that begins with a local purchase and ends with a community donation.

Upon arrival, we join a local family to learn the art of preparing traditional Tanzanian cuisine. The highlight of the morning is the opportunity to sit with the local elderly community, sharing the meal you helped create while listening to the wisdom and stories of the town’s seniors. By spending this time together, your visit directly supports the well-being of the community’s elders.

As the afternoon sun begins to soften, we walk through the town with local guides to uncover the history of this unique cultural crossroads situated adjacent to Lake Manyara National Park and recognized as one of the only places in Africa where the four major linguistic groups (Bantu, Nilotic, Cushitic, and Khoisan) live and farm together in harmony. You will see firsthand how the community thrives through innovative farming and local trade. As the day draws to a close, we head to the cooler highlands of Karatu to settle into your lodge, unwind, and reflect on the deep connections made between the land and its people.

This self-contained environment is one of the few places on Earth where you can witness the Big Five in a single day, including the rare black rhino. As we observe the predators and grazers in this ancient arena, we discuss the delicate balance required to manage and preserve such a vital Habitat.

After enjoying a private picnic surrounded by the sights and sounds of the caldera, we begin our ascent. We take a slow, scenic drive back to the lodge, allowing you the late afternoon to unwind, reflect on the day’s journey, and enjoy the tranquility of the highlands.

Day 7

Salei Plains – Journey into the Silent Circle & Maasai Cultural experience

After breakfast, we leave the highlands behind and journey into the vast, open horizons of the Salei Plains. This is the spiritual home of our brand and the landscape that best defines our three pillars: Community, Habitat, and Wildlife.

Today is about arrival and immersion. As we drive into the plains, you will witness the grand scale of this untouched wilderness, visiting the Giant towering monolith of Nasera Rock.

On our journey toward the Salei Plains, we will stop and the local vendor to gather supplies such as maize, beans and whistles and solar lights to provide clean to the maasai community. These items serve as practical gifts for the Maasai community we visit, creating a meaningful circle of support that begins with the local traders and ends with the families on the plains. After presenting these gifts, you will have the opportunity to meet the Maasai women and support them directly by purchasing their intricate beadwork and traditional weaving. This approach ensures your presence has a double impact, empowering both the market vendors and the talented artisans within the community while fostering a genuine connection built on mutual respect and shared value.

We spend the afternoon in meaningful reconnection with the local Maasai community, learning about their role as the traditional guardians of this land. You will see how the Community manages these rangelands, ensuring the Habitat remains a sanctuary where livestock and wildlife coexist in a delicate, ancient balance.

As the sun sets over the wide-open horizon, we settle into our camp, feeling the profound stillness of the 'Silent Circle' begin to take hold.

Day 8

Salei Plains – Heritage Walking

Today, we transition from observers to participants. After a quiet sunrise, we embark on a heritage walking safari, physically walking into the Silent Circle. Guided by Maasai residents whose families have walked these paths for generations, we move at the pace of the wild.

This walk is a deep dive into our Community, Habitat and Wildlife pillars, connecting with the textures and scents of the plains that are missed from a vehicle.

We participate in the essential Maasai morning rituals, including milking the cattle and joining the herders as they take the livestock to the water point.

Throughout the day, we immerse ourselves in the heart of the maasi home, participating in their activities which includes women weaving.

As we learn the art behind their intricate jewelry, we share stories and discover how these designs reflect their identity and history.

We share in their traditional dances and learn the ancient wisdom that has sustained this Community for centuries.

The day concludes with a direct conservation action as we donate and install solar lights for the bomas. These lights provide a sustainable way to deter predators at night, ensuring the safety of the cattle we tended and protecting the Wildlife that shares this land.
